2003 April 27 Cambria

On 27 April 2003 the SLO Soles had their first "official" club walk. We did a test walk of the Cambria YRE. About 15 people showed up for the walk. It was a beautiful day, the weather was perfect. The wildflowers were in bloom, seals and otters were playing in the ocean. We could not have asked for a better day.

Here are a few pictures from the walk.

The walk starts in Shamel County Park and walks south along the residential streets of Cambria to the East West Ranch. As you enter the ranch you are taken by the beautiful view of the coast. This is the view as you enter East West ranch looking north.
This is most of the group that made the test walk. As soon as we started to walk, the group started to drift apart into slower, middle and faster walkers. Those that wanted to wonder and smell the flowers, and those that were taken back by the view and walked in the trance of the beautiful coast.
There are a coupe of rustic and fun bridges along the way.

This is a good view of what the trail along the coast of the east west ranch looks like. It is a well worn dirt path. The East West Ranch is a favorite walk for the locals.

For the 10K you continue along the streets and walk north along the coast through Moonstone Beach to Leffingwell Landing. At Leffingwell Landing you turn around and head back to Shamel County Park.

There is a small creek you have to either jump across or wade through. You can also take off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes.
