The walk starts in Shamel County Park and
walks south along the residential streets of Cambria to the East West
Ranch. As you enter the ranch you are taken by the beautiful view of the
coast. This is the view as you enter East West ranch looking north.

 |
This is most of the group that made the test
walk. As soon as we started to walk, the group started to drift apart
into slower, middle and faster walkers. Those that wanted to wonder and
smell the flowers, and those that were taken back by the view and walked
in the trance of the beautiful coast. |
 |
There are a coupe of rustic and fun bridges
along the way. |

This is a good view of what the trail along
the coast of the east west ranch looks like. It is a well worn dirt
path. The East West Ranch is a favorite walk for the locals.
|
 |
There are also a number of rustic benches
made from drift wood, where you can sit and enjoy the coastal view.
|
 |
As you get to the south end of the East West
Ranch, the walk turns east and you go to the top of the coast bluff.
This is a short easy climb. The lupin was in full bloom. This part of
the trail is almost cross country, but very easy. |

At the top of the bluff the trail becomes
well worn again and turns north. |
 |
The trail continues north back to Shamel
County Park. This is where it ends for the 5K. For the 10K you continue
along the streets and walk north along the coast through Moonstone Beach
to Leffingwell Landing. At Leffingwell Landing you turn around and head
back to Shamel County Park. |

The sea gulls at play on the beach.
|
 |
As an option, you can walk part of the way,
between Shamel County Park and Leffingwell Landing, along the beach.
There is a small creek you have to either jump across or wade through.
You can also take off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes.
