RoutesThis route is rated "1+" by the AVA. It is mostly on paved surfaces, but it has moderate hills. It includes the campus of California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and the Amtrak station, as well as historical, residential and downtown areas. The route is suitable for wheelchairs and baby strollers. |

Start/Finish PointHoliday Inn Express, 1800 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo CA. This walk is in San Luis Obispo County, CA. The start/finish is at the Inn front desk, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Walk only between dawn and dusk. In the walk binder, you will find Self Addressed Stamped Envelopes (SASE). Please place your start cards and payments into the SASE and drop them in a mailbox. |

Host Location InformationPicturesque San Luis Obispo is tucked in
the foothills in rich California farmland and gently rolling hills shadowed
by ancient volcanic peaks. The city of 45,000 is the county seat, and is
home to California Polytechnic State University, historic Mission San Luis
Obispo de Tolosa, a beautiful and vibrant tree-lined downtown, and the world
famous Thursday Night Farmers' Market street fair; plan on at least a day to
explore downtown San Luis Obispo. The charming shopping district features
many historic buildings housing a delightful array of stores - from fragrant
shops featuring country merchandise to big city clothing stores offering
up-to-the-minute styles. Downtown is also a lively meeting place, complete
with outdoor cafes, movie theaters, and coffee houses. |

Event Registration FeesAll walkers must register and carry a start card. This event counts towards IVV Achievement Awards.

EligibilityThese events are open to everyone. An adult must accompany children under 12. Dogs must be on a leash. |

Refreshments/RestroomsWater and restrooms are available at the start/finish point, the San Luis Obispo Train Station, Mission Plaza, Mitchell Park, and in various buildings on the Cal Poly Campus (if you can find one that is open). |

MiscellaneousAn adult must accompany children under 12. Dogs must be on a leash and owners must clean up after their pets. Every reasonable effort will be taken to make the event safe and enjoyable for everyone.
